I went to the one in Tempe on University. They were up to date on aquaponics in March when I visited them, but I usually go to Petco or Petsmart, or even AZGardens.com (fish supplies) for my testing kits and seaweed extract. That’s the hard thing with merging two extremely different hobbies into one system, it’s difficult to find fish supplies at gardening stores.

Hi Emma,
Which Sea of Green did you go too? I have delt with the one in Tempe and they were not up to date with aquaponics, or information on it. I was looking for seaweed extract, test kits for nitrates, nitrites, etc. and didnt find any of that there. I have bought things from them before, but they are mostly hydroponics. I am finding there are many of us here in the Phx area that are doing aquaponics. I have a small system now but am moving into a huge one in the future (16 grow beds, 1600 gal tank). Good luck on your efforts.

Thanks, Shawn. Yeah, I’m lucky I discovered that they were here before I went and started ordering parts off the internet. We actually have 3 different shops – one is even a chain – locally.

You’re lucky that you can find the fish for relatively free, though. Everything comes with a price, right? I’m looking to go more DIY. Need more power tools See ya!

Great job Emma- like the system. You are lucky to have a shop that sells aquaponics stuff. We have order everything, or DIY (which is fun anyway). See you around on Sylvia’s site…
